Calgary neighbourhood questions, answered

What is the best neighbourhood in Calgary?
There is no single best — it depends on budget, commute, schools and lifestyle. Families often shortlist lake communities like Mahogany and Auburn Bay or school-strong NW areas; walkability-first buyers look at the Beltline, Mission or Kensington; value hunters look north to Airdrie or east to Chestermere. This quiz scores all 308 communities in my service area against your answers and ranks your best fits, with prices as of August 2026.
What are the most walkable neighbourhoods in Calgary?
The strongest walkability is inner-city: the Beltline, Mission, Kensington/Hillhurst, Inglewood, Bridgeland and Marda Loop, where shops and cafés are genuinely on foot. Some newer suburbs (Seton, Mahogany’s village core, McKenzie Towne) build a walkable main street too. The list above updates from my community research.
Which Calgary neighbourhoods are on the LRT?
The Red and Blue CTrain lines serve dozens of communities — for example Brentwood, Dalhousie and Tuscany in the NW, Saddle Ridge and Martindale in the NE, and Anderson through Somerset in the south. If transit matters, pick the "LRT / transit access" lifestyle option in the quiz and it will weight station-area communities up.
Which is better: Calgary or the surrounding towns?
Airdrie, Chestermere, Okotoks and Cochrane usually offer more home and land per dollar, newer builds and small-town pace — traded against longer commutes and their own tax rates. The quiz scores all five municipalities together, so the answer falls out of your own budget and commute rather than a generic ranking.

Community lists are drawn from my ongoing research and live MLS data and refresh regularly. Pricing is general guidance as of August 2026, not a valuation. Mohammad Emon, REALTOR® & SRES®, KO Realty, Calgary.
